We found El Reixac while we were traveling through the beautiful landscape of Catalunya's Pyrenees exploring the villages and their amazing Romanesque churches. We just needed a place to stay for the night. What we got for much less than the cost of a Barcelona hotel room was a cozy, centuries-old cottage that was beautifully and artfully decorated, with kitchen/great room and fireplace, a very comfortable double bed, and a bathroom. A view of the mountains and the lush green valley, a farm-like atmosphere, and internet service--gosh, I could have just settled in and stayed for weeks! Carme, the hostess, was just lovely in her friendliness even across the language barrier.
I wish we could have stayed longer to just relax in this peaceful valley. Sigh. It was one of the best gems we found on our three-week trip in Europe. If you are planning to be in the area, be sure to stay here. IT's a great base for exploring the whole area--lots of day trips, either by car, bike, or hiking.
